Consists of classroom and lab instruction, and clinical training in a healthcare facility preparing students to take the Ohio Nurse Aide Competency Exam. Upon passing, students are then added to the Ohio Nurse Aide Registry. Certification must be renewed every 2 years.
Covers essential skills like blood collection, safety protocols, and patient interaction. Students must complete a training program, have documented blood draws, and pass the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam.
Provides foundational safety education with a focus on recognizing, avoiding & preventing workplace hazards. The certification demonstrates a worker’s commitment to safety and their knowledge of key safety practices, and is often required for certain jobs.
Teaches students essential skills like CPR, AED use, and relieving airway obstructions for adults, children, and infants. Certification requires completing a course and passing a skills assessment and written exam.
Demonstrates proficiency in understanding and using medical terms related to anatomy, diseases, treatments, and procedures, and includes a course that prepares students for a certification exam.
Provides hands-on training and classroom instruction to prepare students for a role in the healthcare industry. It offers early career experience and helps students transition into a full apprenticeship or job.
Joy Roth founded the Ottawa County Community Foundation (OCCF) in 1999 to enhance the quality of life for local residents. Joy was an active member of the Business Advisory Council and supported initiatives of the BAC that directly impacted the lives of students and education opportunities. Sadly, Joy passed away in July 2020.
To honor her memory and to ensure her dedication continues to inspire future generations, the BAC established the Joy Roth Spirit Award. This award honors an individual who consistently demonstrate selflessness in their interactions with peers and take immense pride in their contributions, making a positive impact on those around them.
