The new Hampton Inn & Suites in the Port Clinton/Catawba Island area officially opened and celebrated its Grand Opening on Thursday, July 17th. The community gathered for an afternoon of tours, food, and connection as residents, local officials, and hospitality partners welcomed the addition of this new lodging destination. Hotel staff were on hand to provide guided tours of guest rooms and amenities, offering attendees an inside look at the thoughtfully designed property.

First announced in August 2024, the completion of the five-story hotel marked a significant milestone for the region. The property featured 93 guest rooms built using Hilton’s latest prototype design, along with an indoor pool, waterfront patio with fire pit, 936 square feet of total event space including a large meeting room, EV charging stations for guests, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a welcoming waterfront lobby.

The development reflected strong regional collaboration among the Ottawa County Commissioners, the Ottawa County Improvement Corporation, the Greater Sandusky Partnership, and the Erie County Port Authority. With its opening, the Hampton Inn & Suites further strengthened the Shores & Islands hospitality landscape, helping meet growing visitor demand while expanding lodging options for families, business travelers, and regional events.
