Experience Ottawa County Takes Flight at Erie-Ottawa International Airport

The Ottawa County Improvement Corporation (OCIC) took Experience Ottawa County to new heights in 2026, hosting the annual event at the Erie-Ottawa International Airport (EOIA) for the first time on Wednesday, August 5.

For more than 30 years, Experience Ottawa County has brought together business and community leaders to build connections while showcasing the people, places and assets that make Ottawa County a great place to live, work and do business.

Hosted in partnership with Erie-Ottawa International Airport and Griffing Flying Service, this year’s event highlighted the strength of community partnerships while introducing many attendees to the airport for the first time. Guests gathered in Hangar 27 for local vendors, food, and networking, along with guided airport tours and scenic airplane rides.

Guests prepare to take off on a complimentary scenic airplane ride.

One participant who took advantage of the scenic airplane rides was Steve Hoover, Plant Manager of Materion in Elmore.

“As the largest private-sector employer in the county, we at Materion are honored to partner with the OCIC and contribute to the growth and success of our business community. Experience Ottawa County truly offers a valuable platform for both community and business leaders to connect, share ideas, and discover new ways to help our community flourish. The event was wonderful as always, and the plane tour over Lake Erie was an experience we won’t soon forget.”

Guests connect with local vendors during the event.

Experience Ottawa County also welcomed back past vendors while introducing several first-time participants, giving businesses and organizations an opportunity to showcase their work and make new connections. Among this year’s new vendors was Audrone Ciraite, Owner of Studio A Boutique in Marblehead.

“As a first-time vendor participant, I was truly impressed by the OCIC event and the opportunity it created to connect with other local businesses and community leaders. It was a great way to showcase Studio A Boutique while representing Marblehead and getting to know other incredible businesses and organizations throughout Ottawa County. The event was very well organized, welcoming, and engaging. I would absolutely encourage others to participate in future events!”

EOC attendees enjoy conversation and networking throughout the evening.

The 2026 event also recognized America’s 250th anniversary, with a special flyover adding to the celebration and providing another memorable aviation experience for guests. The anniversary complemented the spirit of Experience Ottawa County — celebrating community, creating new experiences and encouraging attendees to rediscover the people and places found throughout the county.

Thank you to our wonderful EOC sponsors!

OCIC extends its appreciation to Erie-Ottawa International Airport and Griffing Flying Service for their partnership and support, along with the event sponsors, vendors, food providers, volunteers and everyone who attended.

Experience Ottawa County is OCIC’s premier annual marketing and networking event, bringing together businesses, community leaders and partners while showcasing why Ottawa County is a great place to live, work, invest and experience.
