The Ottawa County Improvement Corporation (OCIC), alongside economic development partners JobsOhio and the Regional Growth Partnership (RGP), recently conducted a series of visits with federal organizations and transportation partners throughout Ottawa County. The visits provided an opportunity to learn more about current operations, discuss upcoming projects, and identify opportunities for continued collaboration and economic development.
The group also met with representatives from the Erie-Ottawa International Airport and U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Port Clinton. Discussions focused on current operations, ongoing initiatives, and upcoming projects, highlighting the importance of these organizations to the county’s transportation infrastructure, regional connectivity, and economic development efforts.
Later that day, the group visited Camp Perry, along with the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce, where they met with Fort Ohio Base Operations Manager Colonel Michael Yates to discuss ongoing activities and operations at the military installation. During the visit, representatives learned about the continued strong activity at the base and received a guided tour of the facilities, providing firsthand insight into Camp Perry’s operations and its role within the region.
“These visits provide an important opportunity to strengthen relationships with organizations that play a significant role in Ottawa County’s economy and infrastructure,” said Chris Singerling, Executive Director of OCIC. “By working alongside JobsOhio and the Regional Growth Partnership, we can better understand their operations, identify potential opportunities for collaboration, and ensure these organizations remain connected to the resources and partnerships that support continued growth and investment in our region.”
The visits are part of OCIC’s ongoing Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) efforts, which focus on maintaining relationships with existing employers and organizations, understanding their operational needs, and identifying opportunities to support future development. Through partnerships with JobsOhio, RGP, and local stakeholders, OCIC continues to promote economic growth, strengthen regional relationships, and support the organizations that contribute to Ottawa County’s economic vitality.
